Discovery & Legacy System Assessment
This is the structured starting point for every New or Modernisation project. The goal is to understand what the legacy application actually does—its workflows, business rules, domain concepts, and the real problems it solves. Through guided walkthroughs, screen recordings, database inspection, and focused online Q&A sessions, the system is mapped at a functional level: what features exist, how they relate, and how large the overall domain is. This is basically the same process we use for a new green fields application. This is a charged, hourly engagement that produces clarity for both sides and avoids guesswork. The output is a clear understanding of scope, complexity, and the business logic that must be preserved.
Modernisation Blueprint
The Blueprint deliverable is the translation of what we have discovered into a practical, actionable plan. It includes a workflow inventory, domain model overview, feature grouping, slice mapping, architectural recommendations, hosting considerations, and a staged migration strategy. It reflects the legacy system back to the client in modern terms and provides a safe foundation for decision‑making. With this document, clients know what will be built, how it will be built, and the order in which it will be delivered. The Blueprint is the bridge between understanding the old system and confidently committing to the new one.
Core Feature Implementation & Iterative Modernisation
This is the main build phase, where the new Blazor application takes shape one vertical slice at a time. The process begins by establishing a visual style that reflects the client’s brand—colours, typography, layout preferences, and UI conventions. Once the design foundation is set, development proceeds slice‑by‑slice. Each slice is a complete, self‑contained feature with its own UI, logic, validation, and data access. Clients review and accept each slice as it’s completed, and choose the next most important workflow to modernise. This iterative approach provides transparency, reduces risk, and ensures the system evolves in the order that delivers the most value. At any acceptance point, the project can pause or conclude, and the completed slices can be deployed into production as a stable, working subset of the new application.
Ongoing Support & Continuous Improvement
Once the modernised application is in production, ongoing support ensures it continues to evolve cleanly and safely. This service covers small enhancements, refinements to existing features, and the addition of new slices as the business grows or requirements change. Support is provided under a monthly retainer that includes a set amount of development and advisory time, giving clients predictable access to expertise without needing a full‑time developer. Additional work can be delivered hourly or as new vertical slices when the scope is clearly defined. This creates a stable, low‑friction way to keep the application modern, maintainable, and aligned with the business over time.
